Department of Family and Community Medicine
The Department consists of a dedicated team of Family Medicine specialists providing holistic, continuous, compassionate, culturally effective and coordinated comprehensive care for individuals, families and communities. The practicing Family Medicine specialists are board certified diplomates and/or fellows of the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians who also train resident physicians in response to the Universal Health Care Act (RA 11223) instituting primary care for persons of all ages. They provide access to, patients and their families, a comprehensive set of quality and cost-effective promotive, preventive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative healthcare services utilizing a patient-centered, family-focused, and community-oriented approach.
Individuals turn to Family Medicine for a range of acute, chronic and preventive (wellness) medical health care services. They provide preventive care, including routine checkups, health-risk assessments, immunization and screening tests, with personalized counseling on a healthy lifestyle, apart from diagnosis and management of illnesses. They likewise manage chronic illnesses in coordination with other subspecialists.
